We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Estimating & Tendering
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, tenders, letters of offer and bid submissions for civil, electrical services, power, maintenance and renewable energy projects.
• Manage the estimating of Requests for Tender (RFTs) from the market, including quantity take-offs and procuring prices to produce new tenders.
• Analyse drawings, specifications and contract documents to define scope and identify inclusions and exclusions.
• Conduct desktop site assessments to inform accurate pricing.
• Source quotations and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare letters of offer for review and sign-off by Company Directors and attend pricing reviews for tenders and quotes.
• Identify risks early and plan projects accordingly.
Business Development & Market
• Assist to maintain Client’s profile on Tenderlink and other platforms that allow the company to participate in, or be invited to, tenders.
Project Handover & Collaboration
• Hand over successful projects to the delivery teams — from initial meetings through to ongoing support for questions regarding the estimate.
• Continually liaise with project teams to gauge activity levels and match resources to potential projects.
• Attend weekly and monthly meetings with project teams and meetings with the Head Estimator to track progress, costs and business activity.
• Develop and maintain pricing databases, rate schedules and estimating templates.
Quality, Compliance & Records
• Keep organised, easily retrievable records of all quotes and estimates.
• Monitor industry trends, material costs and labour rates to keep pricing current and competitive.
• Maintain compliance with Client’s ISO-certified Quality (9001), Environmental (14001) and OH&S (45001) management systems, and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes.
ABOUT YOU
Essential
• Minimum 3–5 years’ estimating experience within Power, Electrical Services or utilities industries.
• Strong understanding of civil and/or electrical works, including underground and overhead utilities or power systems.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Sound knowledge of estimating and quantity surveying.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously to the deadline.
• Proficiency in estimating software and the MS Office Suite (Excel in particular).
• Strong written and verbal communication, including a good phone manner and confidence presenting and speaking publicly.
• Diploma or Certificate in a construction-related discipline (or equivalent) Desirable
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline (or equivalent trade background).
• Experience estimating renewable energy or solar farm projects.
• Understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems.
