Data Analyst – Power BI
Role Purpose
The Data Analyst (Power BI) will be engaged to design, build, document, and deliver a suite of interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI, based on data from Ignition (Transport Management Application). The role focuses on delivering Exception reports and Operations and Performance dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights. The specialist will work end-to-end, from requirements gathering through design, development, documentation, validation, stakeholder sign-off, and handover, while following all company directions, standards, and governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Stakeholder Engagement
• Engage with business stakeholders to understand operational, performance, and exception reporting needs
• Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and document business and reporting requirements
• Translate business requirements into clear reporting specifications
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders, following company communication and engagement protocols
Data Analysis & Report Design
• Analyse Ignition (TMS) data structures and sources relevant to reporting requirements
• Design logical, intuitive dashboard layouts aligned with user needs and operational workflows
• Define KPIs, measures, and exception rules in line with agreed business definitions and company standards
Power BI Development
• Develop Power BI reports and dashboards, including:
o Exception reports highlighting operational anomalies, breaches, and outliers
o Operations dashboards supporting day-to-day monitoring
o Performance dashboards tracking KPIs, trends, and outcomes
• Implement drill-down and drill-through functionality to allow users to move from summary views to detailed analysis
• Ensure reports are accurate, performant, secure, and aligned with company data governance guidelines
Report Documentation
• Produce clear and comprehensive report documentation, including:
o Report purpose and scope
o Data sources and refresh schedules
o KPI and metric definitions
o Business rules and exception logic
o Drill-down paths and usage guidance
• Ensure documentation is maintained, version-controlled, and aligned with company documentation standards
Validation, Delivery & Sign-off
• Conduct testing and validation with stakeholders to confirm accuracy, usability, and alignment with requirements
• Incorporate feedback and manage agreed changes in line with project scope
• Support final review, formal sign-off, and handover of reports and documentation
• Provide knowledge transfer to nominated internal teams as required
Deliverables
• A defined suite of Power BI dashboards and reports, including:
o Exception reporting
o Operations dashboards
o Performance dashboards
• Completed and approved report documentation
• Validated and stakeholder-signed-off reporting solutions
• Handover materials and supporting documentation
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
• Proven experience as a Data Analyst delivering Power BI solutions preferably within Supply Chain,
Trasport and Logistics business
• Strong expertise in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, report development, drill-down/drill-through)
• Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to follow company policies, standards, and project directions
• Strong work ethic and sense of urgency on attending job duties
Desirable
• Experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS) or logistics/transport-related data
• Experience with Lean Management Dashboards
• Experience delivering visual dashboards reports, easy to understand and exception-based and operational performance reporting
• Familiarity with enterprise data governance and reporting standards
